Who are we:
The people who run Scunthorpe &
District Cats Protection are a small group of dedicated volunteers with
one thing in common!. A love of cats and the desire to help the
less fortunate felines in our area.
All the committee at Scunthorpe & District
Branch have regular full time jobs and we juggle the Cats Protection
work around this and our families and other
interests. (Yes we do have other interests!)
We meet on a monthly basis, usually at the home
of a committee member where all aspects of the running of the Branch are
discussed and put into action. We regularly communicate with each
other via telephone or e-mail on issues that need a more immediate
response.
What we do:
Well as you would expect our main
concerns are for the welfare of cats and kittens in the area
our Branch covers. Our tasks are various and include the following.
To educate the public on the welfare of cats
and kittens and to promote the work of Cats Protection. To rescue,
re-home where possible and rehabilitate any homeless cats or kittens in our
area. To encourage the neutering and spaying of any cat not used
for breeding. We also trap feral cats, get them neutered/spayed and
provide any veterinary treatment required and return them to their
former environment where they can be fed and monitored.
We have a dedicated team of foster carers, who
like ourselves are unpaid volunteers. These foster carers look
after the cats and kittens that are brought into our care either in
their own homes or purpose built cat chalets on their property. Their reward comes in the satisfaction of knowing that the cats and kittens they care for are found permanent loving homes.
Our foster carers are the lifeblood of the Branch and we could not
function without them.
To sum up, any cat or kitten in our area that
needs help for any reason is likely to be a candidate for our
attentions. We are supported in our work by Cats
Protection Headquarters who provide a
certain amount of financial as well as moral support.
